"A link for a video 'Vogue Australia 2015', probably inspired by the movie
'Picnic at Hanging Rock'.
Lacing/unlacing scene not good quality, but here is good stillclip."

Mike S.:

"I'm new to corsets, and, as an experiment, wondered how they would interact with yoga meditation.  I laced my corset to medium tight, and sat cross-legged with a very straight spine (assisted massively by the corset of course), and with hands overhead, as is this picture:

"I did 15 minutes of silent meditation, breathing shallowly (corset again) and trying not to sag into the corset.  In other words, I tried to stay really straight, and tried to hold my abdominals in, as if I was trying to make the corset feel loose.

"The day after was unexpected: my abs were quite sore - in a good way.  I do abs exercises, so I know the feeling.

"I have not read anything about this effect, and I wondered if anyone has used this as a training method, to get smaller?"

Ian P.:

  1. "Some years ago, I wrote asking for leads on an episode of a television show, Zoe Duncan Jack & Jane, which I remembered featured a rather memorable corset-lacing scene. I have since found the episode online, and found the reality to be disappointing. While fun as scripted, and the actors are clearly game, the scene is completely undermined by the fact that the corset can in no way be called that, and that no actual physical lacing is taking place. Still, for those interested, the episode can be found here.
  2. "I have recently finished corsetry-related fan fiction story--called, appropriately, The Corset--which can be found on the fan fiction site An Archive of Our Own, specifically, here."    [ED: We are happy to publicize this; it is quite well done]

"Doris Hobbs is a fashion journalist and blogger located in San Francisco. She loves the glamorous fashions of the mid-2oth century, particularly the 1940s and Dior's New Look. I first became aware of her because of her appearance on the cover of Stalletto [sic] magazine, aimed at admirers of vintage glamour, of whom I am one. The cover of the Winter 2016-17 edition, at left, features her dolled up in a glamorous sheath dress, long gloves and veiled hat, and also advertises an article by her: 'Corset Education by Doris Hobbs'. I have not been able to find a copy of this online, but her own blog contains many references to the pride she takes in her hourglass figure, and has some articles about corsets:

A Shapely Encounter with Corsettery

Old Hollywood Couture with Corsettery Corsets

A Style of Discipline. 'A corset often ends up as a waist training addiction after the initial fear disappears. I find lovely ladies who have only heard negative messages of the dangers of corseting dismiss all they have been told after they have had the chance to physically lace up in one. With the whipping noise slashing as each eyelet is tightened, a feeling of discipline is felt, a straightened back is formed, along with the opportunity of a reduction waist line of up to four inches.'"

"This video was suggested by YouTube when I watched one of the videos to which LISA posted links on 31 Jan.  It depicts a corsetry fashion
show at  some unspecified time, probably the 1950s or very early 1960s, where two models show off the latest girdles, while another flounces
about in a Victorian-style corset."

Charles S.:

"I noticed the video ends with the first few seconds of another newsreel item entitled 'India Celebrates', and I’ve managed to date this to
1960 (tenth anniversary of India joining the British Commonwealth) - full version here, including the end of Steven K.’s posting!"

Rick:

"A young woman on YouTube is publishing some videos (great to find some original content on there now with mostly trolls) of which
this is an example.
About half way through you see a great looking corset that is leather and goes to a high neck, as well as a silver
metal belt.
Her channel is here, but for some reason the video above is not on her video list."
