Some films have been rated as to their corset-visibility, using little 's.
One denotes little corsetry, while is a VERY GOOD corset-film.
Films with "lacing" scenes are denoted with "Lacing".
Films with corsets UNDER gowns only are denoted with "Gowns".
Obviously, these ratings have little to do with a critical evaluation of the film itself.

1954---- TANGANYIKA-- (RUTH ROMAN)
Ms. Roman (then a magnificent creature) goes behind a bush to remove soaking wet clothes and has her corsets stolen by a monkey!

1979---- TESS (NASTASJA KINSKI)
| Polanski is a famously patient director, and he ran true to reputation
during the making of this film — except for one
explosion. He had, on that occasion, waited all day for the sun to appear .
and then, just as the light was precisely right, his leading lady took off for the bathroom. “He was really mad,” Ms. Kinski says with a grin, “but I had no choice. My corset was pressing so hard
on my stomach, holding back was impossible.”

2011----- Gowns THE THREE MUSKETEERS (MILLA JOVOVITCH) Off-set picture Still
There are several references to Ms. Jovovitch doing her own stunts in full
costume, including a very tight corset, and an entry taken from her own on-set
'I'm back on set,
corseted within an inch of my life.' In an interview she reveals that she and the other women in the cast had asked to be provided with smoothies for lunch because that was all they could
eat in their 'painful' corsets, and also says that on one occasion she had to be cut out of her dress after her hands turned blue and became numb through lack of circulation.
Milla Jovovich talks about sword fighting in corsets in Three Musketeers (2011) She said she really wanted a woman in a period costume to fight dressed as a woman - they always dress them as if they're men.
Q: Did you enjoy wearing the corset? Does it help you get into character?
A: I really enjoyed it the first week, but then afterwards I said - Wow, I'm really glad I didn't live in the 1600s.
About her cleavage: I had to eat a lot of pasta and get cinched really tightly into the corset and let the girls do the acting for me, she tells MTV News.
Corsets are empowering: Ms. Jovovich was proud not to be a "docile woman" in a corset. However, Milla had a new challenge in her new film The Three Musketeers, as she had to do it all while wearing a corset. Of course [it
was hard]! she said in an interview... However, Milla couldn't complain too much. The brunette beauty admits that the big dresses and skirts were all her idea.

1997---- Lacing TITANIC (KATE WINSLET)--Edwardian style Click here for 5 still-clips
A decent lacing scene and long display of Edwardian era corsetry.
"Titanic" costume designer Deborah L.Scott was quoted: "Authentic period clothing wasn't easy to find. Kate Winslet was a real trouper--her suits were so constructed and super-tailored. She was so trussed up and bound, she could barely sit. She wore every proper undergarment, stockings, garters, and even heels during that action. Because of this, she was one of the few cast members who couldn't wear a wetsuit under her body-conscious outfit during the sinking scene when they had to float in cold water for hours."
1993---- TOMBSTONE (DANA DELANEY)
One scene of a prostitute entering the room of a cowboy, showing him (and us)

Corsetted Miss Stephens acts as a dominatrix.
1963---- TOM JONES (SUSANNAH YORK) --Click here for three still-clips
Dressing scene*--usual non-curvaceous stays of the era.
1997---- TOM JONES (UNKNOWN ACTRESS)
Laudable BBC production given the full costume-drama treatment, complete with period underwear. Several of the ladies have waists of splendid artifice, and, in the first episode, there is a sequence in the pretty heroine's boudoir where she appears in carefully-produced authentic 18th century back-laced stays.* In another scene, she is seen walking about in a bodice laced up the front, which may be meant for a pair of stays, as it is very plain; shortly afterwards she is seen in a most elaborate gown.
1999---- TOPSY TURVY (LESLEY MANVILLE)
A dressing-room scene of an entire Gilbert and Sullivan ladies' chorus getting changed back into street clothes. Also, there is a brothel scene with one "lady" down to corset/chemise ... plus the leading tenor in *his* dressing room complete with his corset. Also included is a fine scene where lengthy discussion about wearing corsets on stage is conducted. All in all, a fine Victorian pastiche, costume-wise. Still-clips

Ms. Hewitt in a lovely red corset.
2002----Light Lacing TUCK EVERLASTING (ALEXIS BLEDEL)--Hybrid Victorian/Edwardian style
One dressing and one undressing scene, with inappropriate remarks about corsets being 'torture'. Miss Bledel DOES do a corset justice.
is a period film. You wear a corset. Did that help to put you into
Alexis Bledel: Yes. Definitely. When you put the corset on it gives you a glimpse into what those women’s lives must have been like, a little bit. Just the fact that they did that to themselves to look a certain way gives you an idea of how important it was to be a proper young lady in those times, to kind of fit the mould of what they were trying to accomplish socially. The director, Jay Russell, told me to use the corset as a device to remind myself that not only physically, but emotionally, she was trapped in her surroundings and wanted desperately to get out. It was definitely a reminder because the thing is so tight!

2014----TURN - WASHINGTON'S SPIES-- TVS-- (HEATHER
In at least one episode ("False Flag") a large number of ladies clad only in period inner-wear appear on stage rehearsing for a play.
grgretf1999---- THE TURN OF THE SCREW
On location in Oxfordshire during the hottest days of summer, Ms. Ferris wished the costume designers had not been quite so faithful to the period:
“The costumes look wonderful but they were very heavy. I was wearing a
petticoat with four layers, which were very difficult to pick up together
because they were so heavy. We used to joke
that it was a form of bondage with the corsets, the heavy petticoats and the boots. I couldn’t sit down in a chair because the costume was too big, so they gave me a stool to perch on in
between takes. But when we were filming by the lake the stool began to sink into the mud. It sank so gently, and left me sprawling on my back, much to everyone’s amusement.”
