Some films have been rated as to their corset-visibility, using little 's.

One denotes little corsetry, while is a VERY GOOD corset-film.

Films with "lacing" scenes are denoted with "Lacing".

Films with corsets UNDER gowns only are denoted with "Gowns".

Obviously, these ratings have little to do with a critical evaluation of the film itself.

1955---- GREAT Lacing THE TALL MEN (JANE RUSSELL)--"Fifties fashion" style

Jane is put into a corset, laced and instructed by the town's female corsettiere, on how to get the most attention from her man. Later, the hero has to use a knife to cut Ms. Russell's laces, thereby rescuing her from her too-tight stays! The sultry look on her face says it all! Wonderful lacing scene! Click here for 4 still-clips

Thanks to "Deeper" of Norway, you can HEAR Jane being laced! [Requires .wav generator]

????---- TALL TREE (UNKNOWN)--"Fifties fashion" style

One long scene, good view of rear..

1967---- THE TAMING OF THE SHREW (ELIZABETH TAYLOR)

Liz runs through the latter half of this film in "Tudorish" corset. Not too waist-diminishing, but she has a wonderful natural figure in any case.

1954---- TANGANYIKA-- (RUTH ROMAN)

Ms. Roman (then a magnificent creature) goes behind a bush to remove soaking wet clothes and has her corsets stolen by a monkey!

1948---- Gowns/lacing  TAP ROOTS ( and ) --"Fifties fashion" style

Two sisters lacing each other in an excellent humorous scene.   YouTube in eight parts (lacing scene is in Part Two and starts at 7:15)

1981---- TARZAN, THE APE MAN (BO DEREK) --Classical Victorian style

1955---- TENNESSEE'S PARTNER (RHONDA FLEMING)

1979---- TESS (NASTASJA KINSKI)

Polanski is a famously patient director, and he ran true to reputation during the making of this film — except for one explosion. He had, on that occasion,  waited all day for the sun to appear . . .
and then, just as the light was precisely right, his leading lady took off for the bathroom. “He was really mad,” Ms. Kinski says with a grin, “but I had no choice. My corset was pressing so hard
on my stomach, holding back was impossible.”

1955---- TEXAS LADY (CLAUDETTE COLBERT)

1949---- Gowns THAT FORSYTHE WOMAN (GREER GARSON)

1973-----Gowns THE THREE MUSKETEERS ()

One scene shows a lacing into an outrageous metal 'corset'.

1993----- Gowns THE THREE MUSKETEERS (REBECCA DEMORNAY)

One scene with corset showing -- gowns are apparent, though.

2011----- Gowns THE THREE MUSKETEERS (MILLA JOVOVITCH)    Off-set picture     Still

There are several references to Ms. Jovovitch doing her own stunts in full costume, including a very tight corset, and an entry taken from her own on-set blog reads, 'I'm back on set,
corseted within an inch of my life.' In an interview she reveals that she and the other women in the cast had asked to be provided with smoothies for lunch because that was all they could
eat in their 'painful' corsets, and also says that on one occasion she had to be cut out of her dress after her hands turned blue and became numb through lack of circulation.

Milla Jovovich talks about sword fighting in corsets in Three Musketeers (2011)  She said she really wanted a woman in a period costume to fight dressed as a woman - they always dress them as if they're men.
Q: Did you enjoy wearing the corset? Does it help you get into character?
A: I really enjoyed it the first week, but then afterwards I said - Wow, I'm really glad I didn't live in the 1600s.

About her cleavage: I had to eat a lot of pasta and get cinched really tightly into the corset and let the girls do the acting for me, she tells MTV News.

Corsets are empowering: Ms. Jovovich was proud not to be a "docile woman" in a corset. However, Milla had a new challenge in her new film The Three Musketeers, as  she had to do it  all while wearing a corset. Of course [it
                was hard]!
she said in an interview... However, Milla couldn't complain too much. The brunette beauty admits that the big dresses and skirts were all her idea.

1986---- THREE FOR TEXAS  a/k/a "Gone to Texas" - TVM (CLAUDIA CHRISTIAN)
--Early nineteenth century stays    SHORT VIDCLIP (426 kByte)

Ms. Christian portrays the "Yellow Rose Of  Texas", Emily West Morgan, a mulatto slave, who "stalled" General Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. (Just after the Alamo).  She is fleeing Huston's Santa Anna's tent as the Texans attack.

1957---- 3:10 TO YUMA (FELICIA FARR)

2007---  3:10 TO YUMA (GRETCHEN MOL)

Only a quick glimpse of corsetted prostitutes in  the background

UNK----THE THREE SWORDS OF ZORRO (ACTRESS UNKNOWN)

1998----THE TICHBORNE CLAIMANT (RACHAEL DOWLING)

Although the women's costumes aren't particularly special, most of them do appear to be  properly corseted.

1944---- TIL WE MEET AGAIN (MONA FREEMAN)

1946----TIME, THE PLACE, AND THE GIRL (JANIS PAIGE)

2007----Gowns TIN MAN --TVS (KATHLEEN ROBERTSON)

Ms.Robertson wears a very tight yellow metal-colored corset for her role as an evil sorceress, but there are other corsets on other characters
evident as well.  Images and Internet comments on her role.

1953---- TINSEL AND SAWDUST--Swedish (HARRIET ANDERSSON)

2002---- TIPPING THE VELVET TVM (RACHAEL STIRLING & KEELEY HAWESA picture, some words, and 29 vidcaps

1997---- Lacing TITANIC (KATE WINSLET)--Edwardian style Click here for 5 still-clips

A decent lacing scene and long display of Edwardian era corsetry.

"Titanic" costume designer Deborah L.Scott was quoted: "Authentic period clothing wasn't easy to find. Kate Winslet was a real trouper--her suits were so constructed and super-tailored. She was so trussed up and bound, she could barely sit. She wore every proper undergarment, stockings, garters, and even heels during that action. Because of this, she was one of the few cast members who couldn't wear a wetsuit under her body-conscious outfit during the sinking scene when they had to float in cold water for hours."

1993---- TOMBSTONE (DANA DELANEY)

One scene of a prostitute entering the room of a cowboy, showing him (and us) her corset, and, at the end, a nice dressing
                gown with corset evident..

2001---- TOMCATS (HEATHER STEPHENS)

Corsetted Miss Stephens acts as a dominatrix.

1963---- TOM JONES (SUSANNAH YORK) --Click here for three still-clips

Dressing scene*--usual non-curvaceous stays of the era.

1997---- TOM JONES (UNKNOWN ACTRESS)

Laudable BBC production given the full costume-drama treatment, complete with period underwear. Several of the ladies have waists of splendid artifice, and, in the first episode, there is a sequence in the pretty heroine's boudoir where she appears in carefully-produced authentic 18th century back-laced stays.* In another scene, she is seen walking about in a bodice laced up the front, which may be meant for a pair of stays, as it is very plain; shortly afterwards she is seen in a most elaborate gown.

1999----  TOPSY TURVY (LESLEY MANVILLE)

A dressing-room scene of an entire Gilbert and Sullivan ladies' chorus getting changed back into street clothes. Also, there is a brothel scene with one "lady" down to corset/chemise ... plus the leading tenor in *his* dressing room complete with his corset. Also included is a fine scene where lengthy discussion about wearing corsets on stage is conducted.  All in all, a fine Victorian pastiche, costume-wise.   Still-clips

1995-----TOTAL ECLIPSE --French (DOMINIQUE BLANC)

1956---- TRAPEZE (GINA LOLLOBRIGIDA)

Not much corsetry here, but Ms. Lollobrigida sports an incredible figure! She may be wearing a short cincher while performing one of her "swings" though.

1997-----TRIAL AND TRIBULATION -TVS  (FRANCES BARBER)--Fetish
present
A feature on the Radio Times showed how actress Frances Barber was outfitted in a fetish costume with a tight leather corset and seven-inch heels for
               her role.  Full page

1982---- Gowns  LA TRAVIATA--Italian (TERESE STRATAS)

1956---- TRIBUTE TO A BAD MAN (IRENE PAPAS)

James Cagney can't appreciate her, but Irene sports a fine diminutive waist in this one! No visible corset though!

1949---- TROTTIE TRUE--a/k/a "The Gay Lady  ()

The ladies of the cast are shown throughout in sumptuous and firmly corseted 1890s gowns. There is one scene with Jean Kent as Trottie in her dressing room
wearing a fanciful yellow satin corset ornamented with large bows.       Review by Stephen K.

2008----TRUE BLOOD--TVS   (DEBORAH ANN WOLL & KRISTIN BAUER)     COLLAGE (Season 4, episodes 1&2)
present

1980----- THE TRUE STORY OF CAMILLE  French  "La Dame aux camélias"  (ISABELLE HUPPERT)    BUY THE TAPE    STILLCLIP

1996---- THE TRUTH ABOUT CATS AND DOGS (UMA THURMAN)--Victorian style

Shots of a contemporary actress dressed for period movie in Victorian-style corset.

2005--- THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE ()--Overbust Hollywood style

Ms. Hewitt in a lovely red corset.

2002----Light Lacing TUCK EVERLASTING (ALEXIS BLEDEL)--Hybrid Victorian/Edwardian style

One dressing and one undressing scene, with inappropriate remarks about corsets being 'torture'.  Miss Bledel DOES do a corset justice.

(This) is a period film. You wear a corset. Did that help to put you into character?
Alexis Bledel: Yes. Definitely. When you put the corset on it gives you a glimpse into what those women’s lives must have been like, a little bit. Just the fact that they did that to themselves to look a certain way gives you an idea of how important it was to be a proper young lady in those times, to kind of fit the mould of what they were trying to accomplish socially. The director, Jay Russell, told me to use the corset as a device to remind myself that not only physically, but emotionally, she was trapped in her surroundings and wanted desperately to get out. It was definitely a reminder because the thing is so tight!

2007---- THE TUDORS --TVS  (NATALIE DORMER)--Tudor style      Stillclips
2009

2014----TURN - WASHINGTON'S SPIES-- TVS-- (
present
In at least one episode ("False Flag") a large number of ladies clad only in period inner-wear appear on stage rehearsing for a play.

grgretf1999---- THE TURN OF THE SCREW

On location in Oxfordshire during the hottest days of summer, Ms. Ferris wished the costume designers had not been quite so faithful to the period:

“The costumes look wonderful but they were very heavy. I was wearing a petticoat with four layers, which were very difficult to pick up together because they were so heavy. We used to joke
that it was a form of bondage with the corsets, the heavy petticoats and the boots. I couldn’t sit down in a chair because the costume was too big, so they gave me a stool to perch on in
between takes. But when we were filming by the lake the stool began to sink into the mud. It sank so gently, and left me sprawling on my back, much to everyone’s amusement.”

1996----TWISTED TALES -TVS (KIMBERLEY DAVIES)                   Cover of the TV supplement for the Sydney Sunday Telegraph

1971----TWO ENGLISH GIRLS--French   "Les deux Anglaises et le continent" (KIKA MARKHAM)               Animated gif of still

1971---- THE TWO RONNIES -TVS  (MADELINE SMITH & OTHERS)
1987
Reference the episode "Hampton Wick."    Stillclips

1946---- TWO SISTERS FROM BOSTON (JUNE ALLYSON & KATHRYN GRAYS0N)

Ms. Allyson as the "shy" sister, performing a humorous variety act, with her dress being ripped off by one of her co-dancers. Soon, she is in corset only!

1950---- GREAT Lacing TWO WEEKS WITH LOVE  (JANE POWELL, PHYLLIS KIRK & ANN HARDING)--Fifties "Victorian" style  Stillclips and video

Excellent lacing scene (Ms. Kirk) and excellent corseted dancing scene (Miss Powell). One of the best! Good view of rear.
