Some films have been rated as to their corset-visibility, using little 's.

One denotes little corsetry, while is a VERY GOOD corset-film.

Films with "lacing" scenes are denoted with "Lacing".

Films with corsets UNDER gowns only are denoted with "Gowns".

Obviously, these ratings have little to do with a critical evaluation of the film itself.

NOTE THAT, in some cases, DESCRIPTIONS AND EXAMPLES  OF THE TYPE OF CORSET DEPICTED are included

Far Eastern interpretation of the Victorian Era.

2000----JACK OF ALL TRADES (ANGELA DOTCHIN)

(Ms. Dotchin) wears a lace-up corset underneath her costume. It is a very heavily boned garment made out of a heavy cotton covered with a decorative silk layer which may have embroidery
or some other decoration on it. The corset laces up. On top of that her dresses are very structured and they’re also boned.

In terms of how it feels for Angela to be inside that costume, it’s probably not that far away from how it would have been in those times. The costumes are pretty constricting. We have to
develop them a little bit in order to give the freedom of movement that’s required by the action that’s part of her role, which isn’t the kind of thing that a lady of that time would probably
indulge in. Her daywear dress with the lacy sleeves came about also because of the action requirements. She needs arm movement and the nature of her other really structured dresses mean
that she can’t lift her arms very high.

2006----JANE EYRE --TVM  (RUTH WILSON)  Publicity shot

This page includes an item headed Make That Bonnet Work For You! Or Ruth Wilson's Guide to  Surviving a Costume Drama, in which Ms. Wilson includes some

1959--- Gowns  JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH (ARLENE DAHL)

There's a scene in "Journey to the Center of the Earth", when the adventurers are nearing the center of the earth where James Mason tells the heroine that as they are traveling through areas of great heat and stifling fumes she must not have anything to impede her breathing. "I must know: Are you...wearing stays?" She is very shocked, but he orders her to take them off (we don't get to see them.) At the very end of the film she appears in a very seductive and tightly laced purple silk 1870s dress, and as he goes to kiss her, she says, "I warn you... I'm wearing...stays again!"
